The case of the infamous Porsche accident in Pune, which claimed the lives of two young engineers, has seen police action with the arrest of the minor's father. On a fateful Sunday midnight, the underaged driver crushed two individuals with his father's luxury Porsche. The Juvenile Justice Board granted bail to the accused minor within 15 hours; however, as the case garnered extensive attention on social media and in the news, Pune police mobilised. Now, the minor's builder father has also been accused and taken into custody by the police from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.

Meanwhile, the families of the two young victims are left shattered. One lost their only daughter, another their son. The victims' families are engulfed in grief and rage following the police action and the conditions of the bail granted by the court. The home of young software engineer Ashwini Costa in Shaktinagar, adjacent to Sakar Hills in Jabalpur, is steeped in mourning. When Ashwini's body reached Jabalpur on Monday evening after the harrowing incident in Kalyani Nagar, a flood of tears broke out among relatives. The atmosphere is one of both mourning and anger, questioning how the affluent young driver could receive bail after taking two lives. The heartbroken family questions the justice in this, given the driver's minority status.

All our dreams have been shattered: Ashwini's father

In an interview with Aaj Tak, Suresh Costa, the father of the deceased girl, Ashwini, shared that his daughter had studied and found a job in Pune. She had moved there in December. Now all their dreams have been crushed. Meanwhile, Ashwini's brother, Sanpreet, expressed how his sister, who was excellent in her studies, had moved back to Pune only four months ago for work. 'Now I am left all alone,' he laments, recalling how his sister would speak to their father daily. She had mentioned they were going out for a meal, to a party, before the tragedy struck. The call that came after the incident was made from her phone by her friends. He questioned the propriety of a minor driving a car so expensive and fast that the vehicle was barely visible. He asserts that action must be taken to ensure the misuse of privileges doesn't recur in another case.

'The bail conditions are a joke,'

Anish's uncle, who also lost his life in the incident, questions the police procedure. Anish's father, Akhilesh Awadhia, in conversation with Aaj Tak, argued that the case is genuinely one for section 304 A. He criticizes the police investigation and mocks the bail conditions, stating that even a child in fifth grade knows better. He points to the seven-year sentence under the new act, accusing the police in Maharashtra of corruption. He demands that the accused be held accountable under section 304 for the killing of two software engineers – treating the minor with leniency under juvenile status. 'This perpetrator is like a human bomb,' he decries, fretting that if allowed to go unchecked, the accused could harm others in the future. He insists that not just the minor, but his parents too should be questioned in court regarding how could they allow a three-crore rupee car to a minor.

'He is a human bomb waiting to detonate,'

The uncle expressed outrage at the bail conditions, which he finds laughably inappropriate for a young individual accustomed to driving a car worth three crores. He implores the law to consider if an ordinary person would have been spared so easily, suggesting that influence and wealth played a role in the minor's release. He alleges that the minor has prior incidents of accidents but has escaped due to his background – a potential threat to others if such actions remain unchecked. A stern look at the parental responsibility in granting such luxury to a minor is called for, according to him.
