In a heart-wrenching incident on Ranchi-Chaibasa highway NH-75, a speeding truck claimed the lives of a young couple eager to start a new chapter. As the truck barrelled down the road, it collided with the unsuspecting lovers, crushing their dreams instantaneously. Another individual was grievously injured in the accident and has since been rushed to Jamshedpur for emergency medical care. Villagers managed to apprehend the truck driver, who was subsequently handed over to the police.
The tragedy unfolded near Kharasawan turn in Chakradharpur. It is reported that Ramesh Kerai and his friend Narsingh Kerai had set out on a bike from the village of Dui Kasai in Itihasa Panchayat. The purpose: to unite Ramesh with his beloved in marriage. Narsingh navigated the motorcycle as Ramesh and his fiancée rode, filled with hope, toward Chakradharpur.
As the trio neared the Kharasawan turn, an oncoming truck mercilessly crashed into them, dragging the bike under its massive wheels. Both Ramesh and his fiancée were pronounced dead at the scene. The local hero, Sikander Jamuda, was quick to inform the Chaibasa Muffasil police station and Chakradharpur police, resulting in the swift capture of the truck driver by the local villagers.
Police seized the truck and detained the driver, who was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Following the tragedy, the local MLA Dashrath Gagrai expressed profound sorrow and promised assistance to the victim's family.
