In the heart of Rajasthan's Barmer, a harrowing incident unfolded late at night. A head-on collision between a trailer and a Scorpio sparked an immediate and fierce blaze. The crash was devastating, resulting in the fiery demise of four passengers in the Scorpio, while another was left severely burned.
Four Lives Tragically Lost
Reports indicate that the tragic event transpired as both the Scorpio and the trailer approached each other. The collision triggered an immediate fire, consuming the Scorpio entirely. The victims were identified as Mohan Singh, Shambhu Singh, Pancharam, and Prakash of Barmer. Meanwhile, the driver, Dilip Singh, sustained critical injuries and was transported from Sindhari hospital to Balotra for further treatment.
Upon notification of the incident, police, administrative officials, and firefighting teams rushed to the scene. With determined efforts, two fire engines from Balotra Municipality and RGT Company finally subdued the flames. The aftermath saw a lengthy queue of vehicles on the mega highway, with traffic hindered for hours.
Police Investigate Cause of Tragedy
Authorities including District Collector Sushil Kumar Yadav, SP Ramesh, and Deputy Neeraj Sharma reached the location to oversee rescue operations. Police have claimed the bodies and dispatched them for post-mortem. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. This incident closely follows a similar catastrophic event in Jaisalmer, where a bus packed with travelers was consumed by fire, resulting in the tragic loss of 20 lives.
