The devastating stampede at a cricket stadium in Bengaluru has shaken the entire state. This unfortunate accident claimed the lives of 11 individuals, leaving many injured. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed profound grief over the tragic incident and offered prayers for the families affected.

The Chief Minister announced a high-level investigation into the incident. A commission of one, led by Justice Michael Kunnah, has been tasked to delve deeply into the matter. Furthermore, an FIR has been lodged concerning the incident.

The government has promptly removed several senior police officers from their positions. Those affected include the ACP of Cubbon Park, DCP of Central Zone, Additional Commissioner of West Zone, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, Station House Masters, and the in-charge of Cubbon Park police station. All have been suspended from their duties.

Reportedly, the police had initially denied permission for the event due to security concerns, also advising RCB against organizing the event on June 4. Despite this, the police personnel faced suspension.

Additionally, representatives from RCB, KSCA, and the organizing company DNA will be detained. The Chief Minister emphasized that negligence will not be tolerated at any level, with strict punishment for those found guilty.

It should be noted that on June 3, the IPL final was held at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, where RCB defeated Punjab to clinch the trophy for the first time. A victory parade was organized in Bengaluru on June 4 to celebrate this achievement. The parade was to move from the Karnataka Assembly to the stadium in the evening. Massive crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the cricketers, leading to a chaotic stampede outside the stadium, claiming 11 lives. The incident has since become a political and media controversy, with ongoing blame games.
