The Indian software company Zoho has set a new record with its messaging app, Arattai Messenger. Just after a post by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, this messenger app climbed to the top position, as shared by the company itself.
Arattai shared a post on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter), detailing its achievement of reaching the number one spot in the social networking category on the app store. They expressed their gratitude to all users for this accomplishment.
What Makes Arattai Messenger Special?
Zoho's Arattai Messenger stands out with its unique features. It is designed to perform exceptionally well on low-configuration smartphones and areas with weak networks. This indigenous app is loaded with features similar to WhatsApp. Minister Dharmendra Pradhan promoted this native messaging app through his post.
The Challenge Against WhatsApp?
In the messaging app industry, numerous players exist, with WhatsApp having the largest user base. If the popularity of Arattai Messenger continues to rise, it will directly compete with WhatsApp. However, as of now, Arattai Messenger does not offer end-to-end encryption.
Many users currently experience delays in receiving OTPs, and some face failed OTP requests, as reported by Arattai on the X platform. They assured users that these issues will be resolved soon.
When Did Arattai Begin?
Arattai Messenger was developed by Zoho Corporation and launched in January 2021. 'Arattai' is a Tamil word translated as 'chitchat' or 'conversation' in Hindi. Initially created for Zoho's staff, it was later made available on the Play Store and subsequently on Apple’s App Store. Though its start was slow, the app is rapidly gaining popularity now.

Upon installing Arattai from the app store, the login process is similar to WhatsApp. It features five options at the bottom: stories on the left, then meetings, messaging, calls, and the settings icon. Although it lacks wallpaper and attractive themes, it includes a meeting option for users to view upcoming meetings easily.
