In the spectacular Asia Cup 2025, Team India triumphed over Pakistan thrice, clinching the coveted title for the ninth time. Despite repeated setbacks, Pakistan remains unyielding. Whether it’s the blows suffered on the field or the reprimands from the ICC, Pakistan continues to create dramas in the face of embarrassment. Ultimately, when they faced another defeat in the finals, Asian Cricket Council President Mohsin Naqvi snatched the trophy and fled the scene. The trophy, rightfully earned by India after their seventh consecutive victory and after thrice defeating Pakistan, was taken away by Pakistani Naqvi abruptly.
In an unexpected turn of events, after a five-wicket victory, Indian players firmly stated they would not accept the trophy from Naqvi. On the podium, Naqvi stood with the trophy, while Indian players staunchly adhered to their decision. Unable to persuade them, Naqvi, with no options left, fled the ground taking the trophy with him. Massive spectators in the stadium continued to cheer for the champions.

Pakistan Pulls Off Trophy Heist
For the first time, perhaps in sporting history, a losing team walked off with the winner's trophy, executed by Pakistan. Behind this theft was Naqvi's ego, which Indian players repeatedly challenged since the tournament’s commencement. Despite the presence of other ACC officials on the dais, Naqvi refused to hand over the trophy to them.

Mohsin Naqvi, besides being the ACC President, also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board and is part of Pakistan's internal affairs under Shehbaz Sharif's government. Unsettlingly, Naqvi attempted several times to belittle India during this Asia Cup. He lodged complaints with the ICC to remove Indian captain Surya, threatened tournament boycotts, and even reposted controversial content just hours before the finals.

Indian Team Stood Firm on Their Decision
On April 22, after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Naqvi appallingly claimed it was theatrics orchestrated by India. Considering such vitriol against India, how could our team accept the trophy? The Indian team chose to maintain their dignity and distance from Pakistan, declaring well before the finals they wouldn’t accept the trophy from Naqvi.

This kind of behavior isn’t new for Pakistan. Since gaining independence, Pakistan has repeatedly emerged defeated in wars yet continues to deceive its children with tales of imaginary victories. The truth, however, is known worldwide.
