Falgun Amavasya 2024:

Observed on March 10, the fast kept on Phalgun Amavasya this year holds special significance for leading a tranquil and prosperous life. A remarkable alignment of celestial events makes rituals and fasting on this day exceptionally rewarding, offering double the spiritual benefit. It is also a day for honoring the peace of ancestors through Tarpan and Shraddh ceremonies. Tradition extols the virtues of bathing in sacred rivers and almsgiving.

The Significance of Phalgun Amavasya

As per religious beliefs, Phalgun Amavasya is the day when deities are said to reside in holy rivers. This makes bathing in the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers especially important. If Phalgun Amavasya coincides with a Monday, it creates a momentous occasion for Mahakumbh bathing, believed to deliver boundless blessings. Worshipping Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna in a prescribed manner on this day is considered very auspicious.
