TIME Magazine has unveiled its list of the most influential figures in the AI industry for 2024. This prestigious list includes individuals who have made significant impacts in the field of Artificial Intelligence. A notable feature of this list is the inclusion of several Indians.
Among the names is Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and IT. The magazine highlighted his crucial role in shaping India’s AI strategy.
About him, the magazine wrote, 'Under Ashwini Vaishnaw's leadership, India aims to become one of the top five countries in semiconductor manufacturing in the next five years. This is an essential component for modern AI systems. Several factories have already begun this endeavor.'

'So far, Ashwini Vaishnaw has faced multiple challenges in pursuing this ambition. India's tech segment struggles with low private R&D investment and a lack of an advanced manufacturing ecosystem. The education system is quickly gearing up to produce a specialized workforce necessary for advanced AI and semiconductor development.'
Additionally, the magazine included actor Anil Kapoor, stating, 'Anil Kapoor secured a significant legal victory in September at the New Delhi High Court regarding the use of AI to create his likeness.' In an interview, Anil Kapoor remarked, 'Every actor has the right to protect their identity.'

Prominent names in the list of 100 include Microsoft Research India's leading researcher Kalika Bali, Alphabet's CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella, OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman, and NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang.
