The increasing water levels of the Sutlej River in Ludhiana, Punjab, have escalated the flood threat to alarming levels. The dam near the village of Sarsari has been eroding continuously for 48 hours, with a 16-foot erosion recorded by Friday. This has led to the submergence of farmers' tube wells and the encroachment of water up to the ring dam. The new ring dam, situated 700 meters from the main dam, is now in jeopardy.

To address the situation, teams from the Army and NDRF have been deployed at the site. Despite attempts by the administration to control the erosion, success has been elusive. According to officials, if the water advances further from this point, a flood could sweep into 14 villages in Ludhiana.
