On a Sunday afternoon, at the guest house in Tianjin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met. Here, Modi is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. Following this crucial meeting, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released an official statement.

According to the statement, President Xi Jinping acknowledged that the Kazan meeting last year revitalized China-India relations, marking steady progress in bilateral cooperation. He noted that China and India, being ancient civilizations and the most populous nations, bear the responsibility to benefit their peoples, strengthen unity in the developing world, and contribute to global human progress.

Xi Jinping, reflecting on 75 years, emphasized that the two countries should approach their relationship with a long-term and strategic outlook. He outlined four key points:

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Xi stressed that 'the coming together of the Dragon and the Elephant' is the best choice for both nations. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi conveyed that the previous Kazan meeting charted the course for India-China relations, now guiding them on a constructive path. He mentioned the border is peaceful and stable, with direct flights expected to resume soon.

PM Modi underlined that India and China are partners, not rivals, with more agreements than differences. He expressed confidence that united, India and China will bolster the Asian century and significantly contribute to a multipolar world order.
