Tension continues to surge in Manipur as the latest incident sees three labourers from Jharkhand become the target of gun violence, resulting in one fatality and leaving two others critically wounded, now under medical care.
The incident occurred on the evening of May 19. According to police, under the jurisdiction of the Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West District, near the banks of Nambul River at Naorem-Thong Khumanthem Takyel Kongbal, an unknown 41-year-old man was shot, leading to his death. Two other individuals were injured in this violent act.

Authorities reported that the incident took place around 7:30 PM. The deceased has been identified as Sriram Hangsda from Jharkhand. Both injured, Bittu Murmu, 22, and Mitalal Soren, 50, are also Jharkhand residents.
Efforts to apprehend the perpetrator underway
All three victims were employed as laborers at Keystone Infra Private Limited. Following the incident, security forces were dispatched to the scene. As per police records, a case has been filed at the Lamphel Police Station and an investigation to capture the culprit has commenced. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the police are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
