'Welcome to the garden of laughter, where blooms of laughter are abundant...' The historic moment arrived after 6 years when two comedy giants united. Sunil Grover’s appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show has been a treat for the fans. The first episode is now streaming on Netflix. But was the fan's long-awaiting satisfaction met? Did Sunil manage to steal the limelight amongst the seasoned comics? Let’s dive in.
Sunil Grover's Long-Awaited Homecoming
No doubt, Sunil’s return added a sparkle to the show. The banter between Kapil and Sunil – Kapil's teasing and Sunil's mix of ignoring and witty comebacks – were moments that fans looked forward to. However, it's a pity that Sunil's act couldn't become the highlight of the show. After iconic characters like Gutthi, Dr. Mashoor Gulati, and Rinku Devi, Sunil now incarnates as Dhafli. His entrance was unique, presented like a gift in a large box and unveiled to surprise all. Though the start was enjoyable, Dhafli's encounter with the Kapoor family didn’t meet expectations.
Dhafli holds a mock grudge against Ranbir for marrying Alia and leaving her behind. Their mock quarrel followed by a romantic performance was a scene to behold. Their dance to a love song from the movie Animal was the perfect moment, with Dhafli's expressions stealing the show – a skill Sunil has previously showcased. As the song ended, Dhafli exits the stage in tears, leading to her sudden disappearance and leaving fans yearning for more of Sunil on the screen.

Where Did Sunil's Act Fall Short?
Sunil was amusing in his scenes, but the act lacked the 'X factor' that rolls you on the floor with laughter. Sunil’s portrayal felt repetitious, his look reminiscent of a blend between characters Gutthi and Rinku Devi, and his style of speaking felt all too familiar. Essentially, he returned after 6 years with just a new character name. If he had brought something fresh to the stage besides his romance with Ranbir, the show might have been a riot.
For a successful comeback, Sunil needed to refresh his approach to comedy, setting himself apart from characters like Gutthi and Rinku Devi to truly shine. Though it's the first episode, underestimating Sunil Grover’s potential would be a mistake. His talent is well-known, and forthcoming episodes may surprise us with an act so stellar that he becomes the highlight of the show.
Krushna-Kiku’s Hit Partnership
After Sunil’s less entertaining act, Krishna Abhishek made a grand entrance as Animal’s Abrar. Their wedding segment was the talk of the stage. Krishna’s presence was complemented by Kiku Sharda’s company. The duo created such a stir that the laughter simply wouldn't stop. Their energy was infectious throughout.

Krushna-Kiku Steal the Show
Their punchlines, expressions, actions, and comedic timing were spot on. They engaged the audience until the very end, ensuring a superb finale to the comedy show. Krishna's flair for comedy has been witnessed on various occasions, like in Bigg Boss, where he's entertained many by imitating Mithun or Jackie Shroff.
Based on the first episode, it's fair to say that Sunil Grover missed the chance to create the uproar he was expected to, as Krushna-Kiku completely overshadowed him. They owned the show with their performance.
