After Operation Sindoor, with mounting tensions between India and Pakistan, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has warned the neighboring nation. He expressed that the country has no intent of initiating a war with Pakistan, but will respond to any aggression. Tharoor remarked, 'Should there be attacks on India's citizens, military establishments, or government institutions, the nation will not shy away from giving a stern response.'
India's 'Calibrated Response'
According to a news agency report, Shashi Tharoor stated, 'India replied to the Pahalgam attack with thoughtfulness and precision, targeting terrorist hideouts at night to minimize civilian risk. This was a 'calibrated response.'
He further highlighted that India's intent is not to escalate the situation to a war, 'We avoided attacking Pakistani army or government installations, even though we know who is behind the attack, demonstrating that war isn't our intention.'
Pakistan Seeks to Exacerbate: Tharoor
Tharoor highlighted the grave impact of heavy shelling by Pakistan in Poonch which has led to the loss of 15 lives and injured 59 others. In response, the Indian army is taking action, though India still refrains from further exacerbating the situation.
He also conveyed that the retaliatory strikes by the Indian army which targeted nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were meticulously needed and accurate. These strikes targeted the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke.
The Entire Nation Stands with the Army: Tharoor
Tharoor lauded the solidarity shown by all parties with the army, noting that all-party meetings held before and after Operation Sindoor have proven the nation stands united with its military. He affirmed, 'We are a responsible nation, war is not our priority, but in self-defense, we will never back down.'
