Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address a pivotal election rally today in Nawada, Bihar. He will be canvassing for BJP's candidate Vivek Thakur. Alongside BJP dignitaries, allies from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are expected to grace the event. Remarkably, this marks PM Modi's second visit to Bihar within four days, having last addressed a rally for LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate Arun Bharati in Jamui on the 4th of April.
Prior to PM Modi's arrival in Nawada, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) posed 10 pointed questions. From his social media handle, Tejashwi's post conveys the anticipation and hope among the people of Bihar that the PM would elucidate how the BJP allegedly masks institutional corruption by consistently painting the opposition and its leaders as corrupt and scandalous.
Tejashwi further inquired how opposition figures purportedly involved in corruption had joined the BJP via the investigative agencies like CBI/ED/Income Tax Department. He questioned the PM on how these leaders, after symbolically 'bathing with BJP soap' and being 'laundered in an orange washing machine', are absolved of all wrongdoing and transformed into paragons of integrity and competence.
The Leader of the Opposition in Bihar Assembly probed, 'Will the PM clarify how opposition leaders, no matter how honest, employment generating, egalitarian, democratic, popular, sincere, and outcome-focused they may be, are still maligned by him as dishonest, corrupt, and incompetent? Why has the BJP given more tickets to dynastic politicians than any other party? Why are BJP leaders not subjected to raids or investigations? How is it that BJP leaders' misconducts are conveniently overlooked?'
Tejashwi proceeded to question whether demonetization had truly curtailed corruption and black money. He highlighted the enigmatic nature of replacing ₹1000 notes with ₹2000 and later discontinuing them as well. He also reminded the PM of his 2014 promises of providing two crore jobs yearly and granting special status to Bihar, asking why those promises have been forgotten.
