A horrifying event has come to light from a housing society in Gurugram, Haryana, where a 16-year-old boy strangled a 9-year-old girl to death and burned her body after spreading camphor. The accused youth lived in another tower within the same complex and was caught stealing gold from the minor girl's apartment.
The crime took place in a society within Rajendra Park police station’s jurisdiction, Sector 107. According to the police, the teenage boy was caught by the 9-year-old girl as he was attempting to steal jewelry in her flat. She cried for help and threatened to inform her family, prompting the neighbor to allegedly strangle her and set her body on fire. The families of both the victim and the accused lived in different towers and were known to have good relations.
What Gurugram police said...
The young girl was a fourth-grade student, while the accused is a tenth-grader. The police reported that on Monday morning, the girl’s father went to work, and her mother and brother visited the accused’s home for some work. The accused’s home is located in another tower of the same society. Noticing the girl’s mother at his home, the accused stepped out, claiming to be leaving for tuition, but instead went to the girl's house. He rang the bell, and the girl, who was alone, opened the door. The accused entered and sat on the sofa. He asked the girl for water and later helped her with her school homework.
The girl caught him stealing jewelry...
Since the two families had a trusting relationship, the girl was not suspicious. While she went to the toilet, the accused supposedly executed his theft plan. He found the locker keys inside a drawer in the bed and stole some jewelry. Meanwhile, when the girl came out of the toilet, she caught him in the act and confronted him. During the ensuing dispute, the boy threw the jewelry over the balcony. Despite the girl's struggles and continuous resistance, the accused struck her and ultimately strangled her before allegedly taking camphor from the home's temple and setting her body on fire.
Mother saw smoke coming from the flat...
Shortly after, the girl's mother rang the doorbell, but no one answered. Immediately after, the family saw smoke emerging from the flat and sounded an alarm, drawing neighbors to the scene. Neighbors then entered the flat through the balcony and found the girl dead and partially burned, while the accused boy was seated in a corner.
The juvenile accused tried to mislead the police
The police stated that, initially, the boy tried to mislead the investigation by claiming that two burglars had broken into the home and beaten him severely. However, the police did not believe his story, and upon further questioning, he confessed to the murder. The accused claimed that he committed the theft to repay a debt of 20,000 rupees. DCP (West) Karan Goyal stated, 'An FIR has been registered. The accused boy has been apprehended, and we are currently conducting a thorough interrogation. The police are also questioning a few of the boy's friends.'
