In a bold move amidst the ongoing language debate, Tamil Nadu's government has redefined its fiscal narrative. The current state budget has seen the symbolic '₹' give way to the Tamil 'ரூ'.

This noteworthy change marks the first time a state has altered the official currency symbol used in its budget, where '₹' remains the national emblem. The new 'ரூ' symbol stands rooted in Tamil script, granting a regional touch.

This decision comes at a moment when political tensions over Hindi's imposition have escalated in Tamil Nadu. Recently, CM MK Stalin articulated concerns on platforms like X, emphasizing the erosion of ancient languages due to enforced Hindi integration.

He questioned, 'In states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, Hindi was never the original tongue. Their vernacular identity now stands eclipsed.'

Stalin extended a call to action, urging individuals from other states: 'Brothers and sisters dwelling outside, have you pondered the impact Hindi imposition has on various languages? Rich dialects like Mundari, Marwari, Kurukh, Malvi, Chhattisgarhi, Santhali, Kurmali, Khortha, Maithili, Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Braj, Kumaoni, Garhwali, and Bundeli are grappling for survival.'
