Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has not yet revealed the candidate for the Rampur Lok Sabha seat. Insider sources now suggest that a member of the Yadav family may step into the fray. An announcement is anticipated this Tuesday evening.

It has been hinted that Akhilesh Yadav might field Tej Pratap Yadav from the significant Uttar Pradesh constituency. The official candidate declaration could be made by the party's high command by Tuesday evening. It is also claimed that Tej Pratap has geared up for the nomination proceedings here.

Azam Khan Shows Reluctance to Field Candidate: Sources

Recently, Akhilesh Yadav met with party leader Azam Khan, where Khan expressed his desire not to field a candidate from Rampur this time, preferring a member of the Yadav family to contest instead.

According to sources, Azam Khan has urged Akhilesh Yadav to run from Rampur. While Akhilesh has the option of running for Lok Sabha from Kannauj in addition to Rampur, he has yet to make any decision regarding his candidature. Currently, Akhilesh is contemplative about his potential participation in the Lok Sabha elections.

BJP Makes Inroads into SP’s Stronghold

Let it be known that the Rampur Lok Sabha seat was once considered a bastion of the Samajwadi Party. However, in the 2022 by-elections, BJP's Ghanshyam Lodhi defeated SP's Asim Raza, marking a significant victory in this historically SP-dominated area. The BJP has chosen to renominate the current MP, Ghanshyam Lodhi, from Rampur.
