Indian-origin American astronaut Sunita Williams returned to Earth on March 18 after spending nine months in space. Upon her return, she posted for the first time on her social media account, X, on Tuesday, showing a heartwarming welcome by her dogs, describing it as the best homecoming ever.
In this video post, Sunita was seen having fun with her dogs. As she stepped inside her home, her dogs eagerly surrounded her, climbing up to greet her warmly. Capturing the moment, she penned, 'The best homecoming ever.'
Sunita Williams Expresses Gratitude to Musk and Trump
Earlier on Monday, she had her first interaction with the media, sharing her nine-month space journey experience. During this, she, along with Butch Wilmore, thanked U.S. President Donald Trump and SpaceX owner Elon Musk for their assistance in bringing them back from the International Space Station (ISS).
She also mentioned, 'It's been approximately two weeks since our return to Earth, and we are often asked what we are up to. Well, we're gearing up for new challenges, preparing for upcoming missions. I ran three miles just yesterday, so I can give myself a little pat on the back.'
The First Thing She Did
Williams was asked about the very first thing she did after returning to Earth. She replied, 'First, I hugged my husband and our dogs. Enjoying a grilled cheese sandwich was delightful. It brought back fond memories of my father.'
When asked about her visit to India, she expressed her intent to visit her father's homeland. She is excited about the Indian astronaut heading to the Axiom mission and hopes to meet him someday. She looks forward to sharing their experiences with as many people in India as possible. 'India is a great nation and a wonderful democracy, aspiring to carve its niche in space. We are eager to assist India in its space endeavors.'
