Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is jailed in a money laundering case connected to the Delhi liquor scam, led a massive roadshow in Botad, Gujarat, on Thursday. Bhavnagar AAP candidate Umesh Makwana and AAP Gujarat President Gadhvi were present.
During the roadshow, Sunita Kejriwal addressed the workers saying, 'My husband has been forcibly thrown in jail. They are saying if an investigation is ongoing, does it justify a 10-year imprisonment? They keep him in jail for as long as the probe lasts. That's dictatorship.' Chaitar Vasava, AAP MLA from Dediapada seat in Narmada district, was also jailed in a case of assault on forest officials. He was released in February and has been nominated by AAP for the Bharuch Lok Sabha seat, for whom Sunita Kejriwal arrived to campaign.
Sunita explains why he's jailed
Sunita further said, 'Arvind is a patriot, was an IT Commissioner. He left his job for social service. He asked if I minded him doing social work. He has done hunger strikes. He has diabetes, and not getting insulin in jail could spoil his kidney and liver. Delhi made him CM thrice, you (Gujarat) gave 5 MLAs. They put him in jail to prevent his voice from reaching you, but he is a lion.'
Kejriwal was arrested on March 21
Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by ED from his official residence on March 21 related to the Delhi liquor policy money laundering case. The central investigation agency alleges that he was the main conspirator and directly involved in asking for bribes from liquor businessmen. AAP, rejecting these allegations, has maintained that there will be no change in leadership in Delhi and Chief Minister Kejriwal will run the government from jail.
