During his visit to Sultanpur Court on July 26, Rahul Gandhi made an impromptu stop at Ramchait's shop. He took up the tools and personally repaired a slipper and a shoe. Now, everyone wants to own that particular slipper. Despite the lucrative offers, Ramchait is not willing to sell it.
Speaking to 'Aajtak', Ramchait shared that the slipper repaired by
is attracting high bids, up to five lakh rupees. However, Ramchait has decided to keep it as a memento. Ever since Rahul visited his shop, there's been a constant stream of visitors. Everyone wants to meet him, take photos, and chat. Earlier, no one knew who he was.
Smiling, Ramchait Mochi said, "The shop is now jointly owned by me and Rahul. He came to my shop, sat with me, and repaired slippers together. His visit has turned my life around. There's a significant change. People are asking about my needs and what I lack."
Ramchait is Not Ready to Sell the Slipper
Ramchait revealed that a few days ago, a person called from Prayagraj, offering five lakh rupees for the slipper stitched by Rahul Gandhi. Ramchait declined the offer. Another individual had even offered a bag full of money for the slipper, but he turned that down as well.
He plans to encase the slipper in glass and keep it as a cherished memory because it has brought a significant change in his life. People now recognize him. During the conversation, Ramchait even showed the slipper repaired by Rahul Gandhi.
Recently, Rahul Gandhi had sent a shoe-stitching machine to the shop where he had visited. The Congress party shared in a post, "On July 26, Rahul Gandhi met Ramchait, the cobbler, in Sultanpur (UP). He understood the intricacies of his work and sent him a shoe-stitching machine to make his work easier."
