Murder, extortion, robbery, and a quest for power in the underworld. Aman Sahu, who began his criminal journey at the tender age of 17, truly lived as 'Aman's Marauder'. Just days ago, the day-light murder of NTPC's senior officer, DGM Kumar Gaurav, in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, sent shockwaves from Ranchi to Delhi. It was a glaring question on the efficacy of the Jharkhand government.

Jharkhand police still have no clear answers regarding the motives behind the murder. DGP Anurag Gupta expressed a lack of clarity as to the circumstances, perpetrators, and motives behind NTPC Officer Kumar Gaurav's murder.

The state's Police Chief said that the plots for such crimes originate within the prisons of Jharkhand. They identified three gangs operating from the jails: Vikas Tiwari, Aman Srivastava, and Aman Sahu.

On March 10th, DGP issued this statement and the Jharkhand police arrived in Raipur for questioning in the Kumar Gaurav murder case. Aman Sahu was imprisoned in Chhattisgarh's capital, Raipur. It’s worth noting that Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are neighboring states.

On March 11th, news broke that Aman Sahu was shot dead by police while attempting to escape after snatching an INSAS rifle from a Jawaan. Palamu's SP Reshma Rameshan reported that the Jharkhand Police's STF was bringing Aman Sahu from Chhattisgarh to Jharkhand for questioning in the NTPC DGM murder case when Aman attempted to escape near Chainpur, within Jharkhand's Palamu district, leading to his death in a police shootout.

The police controlled the chaos at the scene and began investigations into the incident. Security agencies are also investigating various elements related to the incident.

An officer named Rakesh Kumar was injured in the incident and is receiving treatment at Medinirai Medical College Hospital in Medininagar. Police also recovered two bombs from the scene.

Although Aman Sahu's end has come, there remain unanswered questions about his criminal empire. Who killed the NTPC DGM and why? What is the mafia behind coal industry extortion?

Aman Sahu stepped into criminality at 17 years old. Hailing from the small village of Matbe in Ranchi, he built over 100 cases against him in Jharkhand. Formerly a hardcore Maoist, he reputedly founded his own gang in 2013, involving in extortion, levy, and murder, especially within the coal industry.

Two and a half years ago in Korba, Chhattisgarh, members of Aman Sahu's gang engaged in a shooting at Barbrik Group's location. This group created chaos by firing outside a business partner's house in Raipur's Shankar Nagar. Raipur police later arrested four members of this gang after they were reportedly sent by Aman Sahu with several local businesses on their hit list.

By the age of 30, Aman Sahu had become a significant crime figure in eastern India, having started in the underworld at 17. Reports state his education level peaked at high school.

The notorious gangster's ties reportedly extended internationally, with a Facebook account operated under the name ‘Aman Singh' from Canada and another as ‘Sunil Rana' from Malaysia. Known to brag about his connection to Lawrence Bishnoi, he traded goons for high-tech arms like AK-47.

In addition to more than 100 cases in Jharkhand, Aman Sahu faces two cases registered in Delhi. Following an alliance with the Bishnoi gang, he allegedly made threats for extortion in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, emulating Bishnoi's method of settling his shooters abroad.

In January, the NIA raided three locations in Ranchi and Hazaribagh over terror funding connections involving Aman Sahu. Authorities seized an SUV, DVR of CCTV, and bank transaction documents from the raid. At the time, Aman was imprisoned in Palamu, operating a terror network across multiple states, including Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh. Several associates of his gang have been arrested in recent months. An ATS investigation revealed further ties to notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

During Jharkhand's assembly elections, Aman Sahu aspired to join politics. His mother, Kiran Devi, filed a nomination for Jharkhand’s Barkagaon assembly seat. However, legal challenges from the Chhattisgarh High Court prevented the candidacy.
