In the aftermath of the stampede at New Delhi railway station on Saturday night, stringent security measures were put in place at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital. The entrances of the hospital have been barricaded and sealed, permitting entry solely to medical staff. Just hours after the incident, a large contingent of paramilitary forces was deployed outside the hospital. Security personnel completely shut down the entry and exit gates.

Families Restricted from Visiting Patients

Media personnel were denied entry, and family members were not allowed to meet with patients. Each person entering or exiting faced thorough scrutiny. Inside the hospital, security efforts were increased as well. Relatives of those injured in the stampede arrived at the hospital searching for their missing loved ones, yet they were not granted access to the casualty and orthopedic departments. Hospital authorities provided information only after verifying their lists, and family interactions with patients were restricted.

Numerous relatives complained that no hospital provided information on missing individuals, and they were not given the opportunity to file missing complaints. LNJP Hospital received the most victims from the stampede, which kept the atmosphere tense.

Intense security checks were conducted outside every ward. Each patient was accompanied by 3 to 4 police officers and medical staff to prevent any outside contact. Even for MRIs and other tests, patients were escorted under police surveillance. Ordinary patients were not admitted into these wards.

Bodies Handed Over to Families

The morgue at the hospital was completely locked. By 9:30 AM, all post-mortem procedures for the deceased were completed, and their bodies were handed over to family members. Subsequently, families departed with the bodies for their respective homes.
