In the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, during the Kanwar fair of Sawan, two young siblings, 9-year-old Nandini and 11-year-old Yug, have set an inspiring example. They embarked on a Kanwar pilgrimage from Haridwar to Ghaziabad with an aim to set a world record by skating while carrying the holy Ganga water.
Their journey began on the morning of July 17 from Har ki Pauri. Skating approximately 40 kilometers daily, they travel under the guidance and support of their father, Mohit Gurjar, who accompanies them in a vehicle for safety purposes. Mohit Gurjar, a renowned cow protector, has also been recognized by the World Book of Records.
Mohit, who has performed last rites for more than 5,000 cows without any institutional help, mentions that the children did not receive professional training in skating. They learned at home and took some technical tips from a coach just days before the Kanwar pilgrimage.
Initially, both the family and he opposed the journey due to the children's young age and the risks involved on highways, but the children's determination and devotion to Lord Shiva swayed them all.
Some social media commentators raised questions about the children's journey being a publicity stunt. However, Mohit asserts that divine will drives this endeavor, and witnessing the children's enthusiasm inspires anyone to encourage them. Upon reaching Muzaffarnagar, they will offer water at the Dudheswarnath Temple in Ghaziabad and then rest. Their next goal is to continue the skating journey to Banaras.
