During an election campaign in the Sisamau constituency of Kanpur, SP candidate Naseem Solanki became teary-eyed. In a gathering attended by senior party leader Shivpal Yadav, she broke down sobbing. She pleaded for the swift release of her husband, Irfan Solanki (former MLA), who is currently imprisoned.

Feeling emotional, Naseem Solanki appealed from the stage to SP workers and leaders, saying, "Please secure the release of the MLA. We are exhausted. This is the final battle; I urge you to vote and pray." Her heartfelt plea was met with slogans in support of Solanki from the audience. Shivpal Yadav also expressed his feelings, assuring that the prison gates will soon open and Irfan Solanki will be free.

Shivpal Yadav addressed the gathering, saying, "Do not fear the Bharatiya Janata Party and their officials. Once the campaign ends, no SP-Congress member should be caught by the police. Even if the police call, do not go. If they come home, do not meet them. Ensure no one is caught, and be at the polling booth by 4 PM on the 20th."

According to Shivpal Yadav, "Do not be afraid, they will threaten and note down names, but do not be scared under any circumstances. Note down the name of any police officer who records your name, and send it to me. We will find them. If they retire, finding them will be easier."

The Sisamau seat in Kanpur is under discussion for the upcoming by-election. Initially scheduled for November 13, it was later postponed to November 20. The Samajwadi Party secured this seat in the UP 2022 elections when Irfan Solanki won. However, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for setting a woman's house on fire, leading to the loss of his membership and subsequent imprisonment.

In Irfan's place, the SP has fielded his wife Naseem Solanki to fight the election. It is notable that the Sisamau constituency has the highest number of Muslim voters, followed by Brahmins and other communities.
