The Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, has made a prominent statement about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He declared that Rahul Gandhi is no longer a part of Hinduism, announcing his excommunication publicly.
While speaking to journalists at the Shankaracharya Ashram situated in Badrinath, Swami Avimukteshwaranand stated that Rahul Gandhi's remarks in Parliament regarding Manusmriti have hurt the entire Sanatan Dharma community. The Shankaracharya noted that Rahul Gandhi mentioned in Parliament that the formula to save a rapist is not written in the Constitution, but in Manusmriti.
Notice Sent to Rahul
It was revealed that a notice had been sent to Rahul Gandhi three months ago, asking him to clarify where the statements he made about Manusmriti are written. However, even after all this time, Rahul Gandhi neither responded nor apologized.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand emphasized, “When someone consistently insults Hindu scriptures and avoids giving clarifications, they cannot be given a place in Hinduism.” He clarified that there should now be protests against Rahul Gandhi in temples and called on priests not to perform poojas for him, stating he no longer has the right to call himself Hindu.
The Shankaracharya's statement has caused a stir in political circles. Although Rahul Gandhi has been a part of controversies for his remarks before, this marks the first time he faces public excommunication from a religious institution.
