Preparations are in full swing for the annual Kainchi Dham Foundation Day Fair on June 15. Uttarakhand's ADG of Law and Order, V. Murugesan, inspected the Kainchi Dham area on Wednesday. He reviewed security arrangements and preparations in depth.
The fair attracts devout visitors from across the country and the world. Officials emphasized that public safety and a smooth execution of the event remain their highest priorities.
The ADG’s visit highlighted areas like security measures, traffic management, crowd control tactics, and facilities for incoming pilgrims.
Accompanied by senior officials including Deputy Inspector General (Kumaon Range) Ridim Agrawal and Senior Superintendent of Police (Nainital) Prahlad Narayan Meena, the ADG evaluated crucialspots around the temple complex, covering major roads, parking areas, and highly congested spaces. The aim was to assess preparedness and identify areas needing further attention before the grand event.

Plans are underway to deploy three Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) companies and over 800 policemen. These personnel will be tasked with ensuring smooth operations during the fair.
Sectors will be established for methodical deployment of personnel, appointing officers in plain clothes among crowds for safety, and regular checks for suspicious items.
A meeting at Sardar Patel Bhavan in Bhawali was held where Nainital Police briefed the ADG on the current status of preparations. During this interaction, the ADG charted out specific guidelines to ensure a secure and orderly event.

Key challenges for the police include coordination with the temple management committee and event organizers, managing entry and exit points efficiently, and deploying volunteers to assist in the management of crowd flow. A central control room with accountable officials, CCTV and drone surveillance, and an active social media monitoring cell to counter misinformation are being established.
The ADG also instructed officers to disseminate route diversion plans, manage shuttle services effectively, and ensure personnel presence in all parking areas.
There will be clear signage for routes, entry and exit points, parking, and service booths like those for offerings distribution. Managing temple entry by monitoring crowd density is crucial. During the review meeting, officials from various police units including traffic, crime, intelligence, and local stations were present.
