Arvind Kejriwal has announced his resignation from the position of Chief Minister. He has stated that he will seek votes from the public based on honesty. It is being speculated that just before the Delhi Assembly elections, a scheme to provide ₹1000 as a respect allowance to women might also get clearance. Political analysts believe that although Kejriwal's government announced this in the previous budget, his arrest hindered cabinet approval. Now, the new CM could give the green light to this scheme.

AAP to Benefit

During the election, Kejriwal's government can tell the public that it has passed the scheme and will implement it as soon as it forms the government. Another advantage is that if the scheme gets stuck at the LG Office or another level, the government can still leverage it to their benefit.

BJP Calls It a Sham

The main spokesperson of Delhi BJP and MLA from Laxmi Nagar, Abhay Verma, claims there is no clarity in the scheme. No parameters have been set. Everyone is filling out forms without knowing who will benefit from this scheme. We are also waiting for the final draft of the scheme.

What is This Scheme

Under this scheme, women in Delhi will receive ₹1000 every month as financial aid. However, only those who are residents of Delhi, earn below the income tax limit, and are not government employees (serving or retired) will get this assistance.

Approval Worth ₹2000 Crores Already Received

In March this year, presenting the 2024-25 budget in the Delhi Assembly, Finance Minister Atishi announced the scheme for women. It has been named the Chief Minister Women's Respect Scheme. Statistics suggest that around 5 million women in Delhi will benefit from this initiative.
