Champions at the French Open 2024:
India's acclaimed badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have displayed a stellar performance, bagging the French Open Super 750 badminton tournament title for the second time in their career.
The robust duo showcased their dominance throughout the tournament. They seized the finals in straight sets, 21-13, 21-16, against Taiwan's Li Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan, completing their victory in a swift 36 minutes.
A Spirited Tussle in the Second Game
The Indian powerhouse wrapped up the first game in a mere 15 minutes, leading 21-11. However, the subsequent game saw a spirited resistance from the opponents, who at one point had an 11-10 lead. Nevertheless, Satwik and Chirag did not falter, making a remarkable comeback to claim the game 21-17.
Second French Open Triumph for the Duo
This marks the second triumphant occasion for Satwik and Chirag at the French Open. Previously, they lifted the trophy in 2022 and were the runners-up in 2019. It's noteworthy that the duo kicked off this season reaching the finals of the Malaysia Open.
Despite facing defeat in the finals against China's pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, and later at the India Open, they turned things around and left no stone unturned to emerge victorious at the French Open this time.
