Former Jharkhand minister Saryu Rai has joined JD(U). The party's National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha announced this on Sunday. Saryu Rai is an independent MLA from Jharkhand. Sanjay Kumar Jha inducted him into the party.

On this occasion, ministers Ashok Chaudhary, Shravan Kumar, and Jharkhand JD(U) President Khiru Mahto were also present. Recently, Saryu Rai had a meeting with Nitish Kumar, which fueled speculations about his joining JD(U).

Saryu Rai has a very old relationship with Nitish Kumar. His joining the JD(U) ahead of the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections is considered very special. JD(U) has announced its alliance with NDA and has claimed 11 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly elections.

Key role in exposing the fodder scam

Former BJP leader Saryu Rai left the party before the 2019 Assembly elections and won a significant victory against the then Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Saryu Rai is known for his crucial role in exposing the fodder scam, which led to the conviction of Lalu Yadav. He played an active role in the investigation.

Sanjay Kumar Jha welcomed Rai into the party and expressed confidence that his inclusion will strengthen the party's base in Jharkhand. After emerging as the third-largest constituent of the NDA with 12 MPs, JD(U) is now focusing on bolstering its position in Jharkhand ahead of the Assembly elections.
