The leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, recently made headlines with his statements in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, suggesting the need to differentiate between race horses and ceremonial horses. He even introduced a third category - the 'lame horse.' This has sparked a political furor. Fiery comments were made by Sanjay Nirupam, a former Congress member now allied with Shiv Sena, who took to social media platform X, lambasting his former party and targeting Rahul Gandhi. Nirupam labeled Gandhi's comments as egotistical.

Sanjay Nirupam openly posted on his X handle, suggesting that the respect for remaining Congress leaders is eroding when a leader begins to categorize them as horses. Reflecting on his past admiration for Rahul Gandhi, he expressed disbelief, questioning where Gandhi gets such ideas from. He emphasized that such arrogant remarks will neither revive the party nor unite it, but will further fracture it.

Nirupam further commented in his post that Congress seems akin to Gaza, with Rahul Gandhi acting like Israel, hinting at signs of Congress' destruction. Notably, during a Congress leaders' meeting in Bhopal, Gandhi had remarked that sometimes the party erroneously assigns a race horse to a ceremony, as described by Kamal Nath, and sometimes vice versa. He also highlighted the need to identify the 'lame horse' among them.

The opposition leader emphasized sending the race horse to the race and the ceremonial horse to ceremonies, retiring the lame one with a directive to relax and not cause trouble, or face consequences. Additionally, following the launch of a grassroots organizational campaign in Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi stressed identifying leaders within Congress who aid the BJP and urged ending intra-party factionalism decisively.
