Enraged locals started pelting stones at the police as the survey team reached Sambhal's Jama Masjid, spreading tension in the area. For over two hours, the survey inside the mosque proceeded under heavy protection, with the police escorting the team through an alternate exit. Attorney Vishnu Shankar Jain was part of the survey team.
Tension During the Survey
Following court orders, tensions during the survey prompted the dispatch of Moradabad DIG Muniraj and Bareilly Zone ADG Ramit Sharma to the site. Additionally, three units of the PAC were deployed throughout the area.
DGP Prashant Kumar stated the situation is completely under control. Those involved in stone-pelting are being identified for action, and it is important to acknowledge that the team was there per a court order.
Survey Spanned Two and a Half Hours
Post-stone pelting, tear gas was used to manage the situation, and the survey team was evacuated through an alternate path. Despite stone-pelting, some people were seen chanting slogans while the team was escorted out.
The survey, running from 7:30 to 10 in the morning, concluded with complete videography and photography. The Advocate Commissioner is scheduled to submit their report on November 29.
Claims of Mosque Built Over Temple
The report will detail discoveries during the survey. Following claims of the mosque being built over an ancient Hindu temple during the Mughal era, the team led by senior lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain conducted a second survey as ordered by the court.
Survey Inside, Police on Guard Outside
Upon the team's arrival, the crowd began throwing stones at the police, causing jostling and aggressive behavior. A video circulating shows police and SP donning helmets to maintain order.
Previously, on November 19, Civil Judge Senior Division Aditya Singh in Sambhal District of Chandausi ordered the Jama Masjid's Advocate Commissioner survey. Responding to this directive, the commissioner's team returned for the survey.
