Is Iran Preparing for Nuclear Tests? Work Resumes at Taleghan-2

Rapid construction at Iran's Taleghan-2 site (Parchin Complex) raises suspicions of an impending nuclear bomb test. Although Israel plans to target new underground sites, tensions escalate.

Tensions between Iran and Israel have surged again. New satellite images from November 2025 reveal that Iran is swiftly reconstructing its former nuclear weapon site, Taleghan-2 (or Taleghan-2), located near Tehran at the Parchin Military Complex. Experts fear high-explosive tests necessary for a nuclear bomb could occur here.

In the early 2000s, Iran had a secret project known as the Amad Plan, aimed at building a nuclear bomb. Taleghan-2 was central to this project, where tests of bomb components (high explosives) were conducted. In October 2024, Israel bombed this site, destroying it completely. Now, just a year later, Iran has resumed construction, starting work in May 2025.

The renowned American think tank, Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), reported in November 2025...

  • A massive cylindrical structure is being built at the site, approximately 36 meters long and 12 meters wide.

  • It appears to be a high-explosive containment vessel. It can contain significant explosions, ideal for internal nuclear bomb tests.

Iran has attempted to conceal this by covering it with dark material to prevent detection from above. The report states explicitly: It's not 100% guaranteed to be for nuclear bombs, but the location and past history suggest significant suspicion.

Iran repeatedly claims its nuclear program is solely for electricity and medicine. Making nuclear bombs is forbidden in their religion. However, the world remains skeptical, with suspicions that Iran has enriched uranium up to 90% — just a step away from bomb-making capability.

International concerns escalate as Iran constructs a nuclear site at Parchin Complex, sparking fears of potential tests.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has already declared that Iran will never be allowed to develop a nuclear bomb. In 2024 and 2025, Israel targeted multiple Iranian nuclear sites, missile factories, and scientists. Now with Taleghan-2 being reconstructed, another Israeli strike could occur. Experts believe significant action may be imminent.

The U.S. fully supports Israel. The IAEA (the UN’s nuclear watchdog) repeatedly states Iran is not cooperating and is blocking inspections of old sites. Iran has not made any official announcements regarding nuclear tests. In secrecy, Iran is preparing its old nuclear bomb site again, prompting fears of a rapid move towards bomb-making. Another Israeli strike could be on the horizon.
