Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was involved in a life-threatening attack, and Mumbai police are diligently investigating. The crime branch has recorded Saif's statement, along with those of his wife Kareena Kapoor and household staff. According to police sources, Saif elaborated on the incident, detailing the intrusion by a Bangladeshi assailant and his attempts to protect his family.
The investigation, witness accounts, and questioning of the accused have revealed the full story of that fateful night. Police reports indicate that on the night of January 16th, the accused, Md. Shariful Islam Shahjad, arrived near Saif's Sadguru Sharan apartment around 1:30 AM. The actor resides in a duplex on the 11th and 12th floors of the building. The intruder climbed over the boundary wall and entered the compound.
The assailant then evaded detection and reached the first floor using duct pipes, eventually taking the stairs to the 10th floor. He ascended to the 11th floor again using the pipes, arriving directly in front of a bathroom window connected to Saif's children's room. The suspect entered and hid himself in the bathroom adjacent to Saif's son, Jahangir's room.
Notably, no grille adorned the bathroom window, only a mesh to prevent rodents. Shariful removed the mesh. At around 2:30 AM, housemaid Eliama Philip noticed the bathroom light illuminated and encountered the stranger. Startled, she immediately sought to silence him. He warned her that if she screamed, he would retaliate.
Bravely, Philip inquired about his identity and demands, to which he replied with a demand for one crore rupees. Alarmed, Philip raised the alarm as he moved towards sleeping young Jahangir. Hearing the commotion, Saif and Kareena, who were asleep on the 12th floor, rushed downstairs. The household was now fully awake.

Overwhelmed by the presence of so many, the assailant panicked. As he attempted to approach Jahangir, Saif courageously grabbed him. Struggling to break free, the intruder drew a knife from his bag and launched a frenzied attack on Saif. Despite Eliama's attempts to restrain him, she was also injured before others subdued the attacker.
The group managed to lock the assailant inside a room, but he escaped through the window he had entered initially, maneuvering down the duct pipe to the 10th floor, then down to the first, and finally exiting the back gate unseen by guards.
After fleeing Saif Ali Khan's residence, the perpetrator headed approximately a kilometer to Patwardhan Garden bus stop, where he slept undisturbed for three hours. He then proceeded to change clothes at Bastiya's restaurant on Link Road before discarding the broken knife handle, which had remained lodged in Saif's back, in a nearby alley at Bandra Talao.

By evening, Saif was transferred from ICU to a private room, discharged five days later, and is now recovering comfortably at home.
