Saharanpur Scandal: Registrar and Three Others Arrested in Illegal Land Allocation to Mining Mafia Haji Iqbal

Following Revenue Inspector Dinesh Kumar's FIR against Haji Iqbal for land fraud, police have arrested four, including the registrar.

In Saharanpur's Behat, the SIT has taken stern action in a case involving land purchased by the Abdul Waheed Educational and Charitable Trust. Four accused, including the registrar, have been detained.

Saharanpur's SSP, Akash Tomar, revealed that Revenue Inspector Dinesh Kumar had lodged an FIR against mining tycoon Haji Iqbal over the illegal allotment of 80 bighas of land, leading to the arrest of Registrar Kanungo Janeshwar Prasad, along with Birbal Singh, Surendra, and Sanjay.

Fraudulent Land Transfer Exposed

The case accuses Haji Iqbal and government employees, including Patwaris, of registering the land under the Abdul Waheed Educational and Charitable Trust, New Bhagat Singh Colony, through forgery. The SIT was then formed to investigate this scandal.

₹1097 Crore Property Sealed

Interestingly, last year, former BSP MLC Haji Iqbal suffered a significant blow when the Enforcement Directorate sealed his properties worth ₹1097 crore. The allegations pointed to acquiring assets through shell companies and illegal mining activities.
