The enigmatic death of Jodhpur's revered storyteller, Sadhvi Prem Baisa, is embroiling everyone in questions. Her abrupt demise on a Wednesday has cast a veil of serious inquiries, chiefly: was her passing due to an ordinary ailment, or was a toxic substance administered under the guise of an injection?
Reports indicate that Sadhvi Prem Baisa suffered from cold, cough, and light fever. During this period, an injection was administered at her home, shortly after which her condition dramatically worsened, leading to her death. Devi Singh Rajpurohit, the compounder who gave the injection, has been interrogated by the police.
In light of the case's gravity, Rajasthan Police have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into Sadhvi Prem Baisa's death. Jodhpur ACP Chhavi Sharma asserts that all possible aspects of this case are under scrutiny. As of now, no arrests have been made.
Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash has confirmed the formation of an SIT to probe the circumstances surrounding her demise. The postmortem and viscera reports are still awaited. Although her postmortem has been conducted, the report has not yet been released. Meanwhile, the forensic analysis of her mobile phone is also pending.
The actual cause of death will be clarified based on these reports. A question emerges concerning a 'trial by fire.' A viral CCTV footage led Sadhvi Prem Baisa to mention this trial, and the police are probing whether this controversy and pressure played a role in her death.
Initial police findings suggest that Sadhvi suffered from a routine cold-fever, usually treated with medications like paracetamol. Nevertheless, the reasoning behind administering an injection remains a central inquiry, particularly pertaining to the injection that seemingly precipitated her rapid health decline.
Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s father shared that despite her poor health, she continued her religious commitments, frequently appearing on stage. He claims her condition deteriorated within 30 seconds of the injection. A controversy was ignited when a social media post appeared from Sadhvi’s account nearly four hours posthumously, stating justice would be served if not in life, then in death. Her father later claimed responsibility for this post, further deepening the mystery about the justice it referred to. Subsequently, the police have sealed the ashram.
Continuous interrogations are being conducted. The initial focus of the SIT's investigation is the role of the compounder who administered the injection. Additionally, the hospital where she was taken in her final moments is under scrutiny. Presently, the death of Sadhvi Prem Baisa leaves behind a trail of unanswered questions.
