Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has announced the deployment of a new weapon within the Russian Air Defense Forces. Dubbed the world's most advanced defense system, it has undergone two critical upgrades. Capable of annihilating stealth fighter jets, hypersonic missiles, or satellites in space, Russia intends to deploy ten battalions of this system. Should these be placed along its borders, it would render any aerial assault futile.
The missile system, known as the S-500 Prometey or 'Prometheus' after the ancient Greek deity of fire, is endowed with long-range anti-aircraft missiles and a missile defense system, making it a formidable opponent to airborne threats.

The S-500 missile system touts a striking 600-kilometer engagement range, able to detect targets from up to 800 kilometers away. Capable of locking onto and destroying up to 10 different targets simultaneously, it's as swift as it is deadly.
Moving at breakneck speeds exceeding 25,200 kilometers per hour, the missiles can intercept and obliterate incoming hypersonic weapons targeting Russia, even those traveling faster than 12,000 kilometers per hour. Its sophisticated range allows it to engage threats in the Earth's lower orbit.
The missiles within the S-500 system possess an agile trajectory, tailoring their path mid-flight to hunt down fleeing targets or adapt to a changing direction. The system is fully compatible with Russia's previous air defense arrays like S-400, S-300VM4, S-350 Vityaz, and other systems, enhancing its operational flexibility.
Included in this high-stakes arsenal are the 77N6-N and 77N6-N1 interceptor missiles designated for anti-satellite and anti-spacecraft missions. Another variant, equipped with 40N6M anti-aircraft missiles, specifically targets hypersonic missiles and stealth fighter jets, marking a new horizon in defensive warfare.
