Russia Launches Biggest Attack with Over 100 Missiles; Kyiv Targeted

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia struck Ukraine with over 100 missiles and conducted 100 drone attacks using Iranian-supplied Shahed drones.

Today, on August 26, 2024, Russia carried out missile strikes in several Ukrainian cities along with drone attacks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed this, stating that Russia used over 100 missiles and more than 100 drones, resulting in significant destruction.

Zelensky mentioned that Ukrainian forces are advancing in Russia’s Kursk region, while Russian forces have gained ground in eastern Ukraine, causing the transport hub in Pokrovsk to shut down. Zelensky appealed to allied countries for continued supplies of air defense systems and more missiles.

He suggested that countries supporting Ukraine should also enter into a joint air defense agreement to counter Russian drones and missiles effectively. The most recent attacks targeted electrical grids and power stations.

Targeted Areas by Russia

Russian missiles and drones targeted electrical substations in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro, Poltava, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, and Odessa. Gas compressor stations and gas transportation systems in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kharkiv were also hit.

Additionally, airfields and weapon depots in the Kyiv and Dnipro regions were targeted, with Russia claiming precise strikes. Many areas in Ukraine are experiencing power outages, disrupted railway transport, and destroyed weapon depots.

Claims of Kinzhal Missile Use

Massive power outages were reported in Ukraine following these attacks, with claims that Russia also used hypersonic Kinzhal missiles. Ukraine’s air defense reportedly downed 15 missiles and as many drones, yet the assault was still intense, causing damage to several Ukrainian cities.

Zelensky Calls Putin Sick

Meanwhile, on his Telegram channel, Zelensky described Russian President Vladimir Putin as a 'sick man'. The attacks utilized Shahed drones, leading Zelensky to express condolences for the victims of the Russian strikes. Putin responded by affirming that there will be no further negotiations and that Ukraine will face a harsh response.

These are Iranian loitering munitions, or kamikaze drones, with a wingspan of 3 meters and a length of 2.5 meters, boasting a range of 1000 kilometers.

Russia Retaliates Fiercely After 9/11-Like Attack

Ukraine launched a suicide drone strike on a 38-story building named Volga Sky Residential Complex in Saratov, Russia. Videos on social media clearly show a drone speeding toward the building and hitting it.

The explosion resulted in smoke and debris falling onto the cars below. The drone attack severely damaged four floors of the building, with a significant hole created in three of them. One woman sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment in a hospital. The strike mirrored the attack on the United States on 9/11.

Following the building attack in Saratov, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a massive retaliation against Ukraine, leading to deadly strikes in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, Odessa, Dnipro, and other cities.
