An event was organized in Mumbai on Thursday, January 8, for the film industry, featuring several prominent pan-India directors. Bollywood star director Rohit Shetty was present at the Indian National Cinema Academy (INCA) event, where he expressed his views on multiple issues.

How Has Language Created Barriers in Film Business?

The media questioned Rohit Shetty about pan-India films that perform excellently in their native states but fail to have the same impact in other regions. Director Rohit commented that language is the biggest barrier in our country because, though our population is enormous, very few people actually make it to the theaters.

Rohit shared, 'I believe in one nation, one cinema, a single celebration of Indian cinema collectively. All our producers and directors will agree that the saddest part is that with a population of 1.4 billion, only 30 or 40 million people watch our biggest blockbuster films in theaters, nothing more.'

'The biggest reason for this is the language barrier. Another reason might be the lack of proper recognition for our technicians. I would like to say that perhaps an Odia or Assamese director might get a bigger and better platform through INCA, allowing them to showcase their talent to the world. I think it's high time we all come together.''

The Indian National Cinema Academy (INCA) is an initiative where filmmakers from 12 different languages come together in an effort to overcome language barriers. INCA aims to bridge the gap between Hindi cinema and the southern film industries, providing opportunities for artists and technicians to work on films in different languages and helping regional films reach audiences across India.

As for Rohit Shetty's work front, the director is currently working on Rakesh Maria's biopic with John Abraham and Tamannaah Bhatia. Following this, he will begin work on 'Golmaal 5.'
