As the Lok Sabha elections approach in Bihar, a controversy surrounding obscenities yelled at a political rally has ignited political tensions. Chirag Paswan, National President of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), expressed his displeasure in a letter to former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. He demanded prompt action against RJD activists accused of insulting his mother, reviving dreadful memories of lawlessness witnessed in Bihar during the 1990s.
In the letter to Tejashwi, Chirag stated, "I never distinguished between the venerable Rabri Devi and my own mother. Thus, I expected more decorum from your party supporters. The unsavory language used is beyond my imagination. This event has refreshed memories of a time when women were humiliated and harassed, unable to safely leave their homes. As a son, the pain of hearing such words about one's own mother is unimaginable to you."

Chirag further wrote, "I urge you to send a strong message to your party workers and supporters to prevent any future use of such language in Bihar, not just against me but any mother or sister. I grew up learning to identify relationships from my father. Alongside political relations, familial bonds are essential. In closing, I would say the love and respect I have always shown towards my mother and sisters, including Misa Didi and other sisters, as well as the honorable Rabri Devi, seem to be unilateral. Today, my family and I are pained by this incident. I hope you will take immediate action against those who've disgraced my mother."
What's the Situation?
Recently, RJD nominated Archana Ravidas for the Jamui constituency seat. During a rally to support Archana, a video surfaced on social media showing some attendees hurling abuses towards Chirag Paswan’s mother. In the clip, Tejashwi Yadav is seen addressing the public, with Archana Ravidas alongside him, while the verbal abuse occurs in front of the female candidate by supporters, allegedly associated with former RJD MLA Vijay Kumar.
