Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan finds himself entangled in controversy. Recently, he made a contentious statement regarding the Kannada language, leading to displeasure among several major leaders and the Chief Minister of Karnataka. This has prompted discussions on banning his upcoming film 'Thug Life' within Karnataka. In response, Kamal Haasan has approached the Karnataka High Court for intervention.

Kamal Haasan Approaches the High Court

Kamal Haasan has filed an appeal in the Karnataka High Court, seeking an order to prevent the state government, police administration, and film distributors from obstructing the release and screening of his film 'Thug Life'. Additionally, he has requested the provision of adequate security for the film's screening in the state. The actor's appeal also urges the court to issue directives to the Police Commissioner and City Police Chief regarding this matter.

Filed in collaboration with the CEO of his production company, 'Raaj Kamal Films International', the appeal follows prolonged demands in Karnataka to prohibit the film's release. The 'Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce' has made it clear that unless Kamal Haasan apologizes to the people of Karnataka, the film will not be released in the state. It remains to be seen how the court will respond to the actor's plea.

What Is Kamal Haasan's Case About?

During the promotion of his film 'Thug Life' in Chennai, Kamal Haasan remarked that 'Kannada originated from Tamil.' This statement ignited controversy in Karnataka, prompting protests from various Kannada organizations. These organizations demanded an apology from Kamal Haasan for offending the sentiments of Kannada-speaking people.

However, Kamal Haasan refused to apologize, stating, 'This is a democracy. I believe in law and justice. My love for Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala is genuine. No one should doubt this, except those with an agenda. I have faced threats before, and if I am wrong, I will apologize. But if I am not wrong, there will be no apology.'

Regarding the film 'Thug Life', Kamal Haasan returns with legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam after nearly 38 years. The film features South actress Trisha Krishnan as the lead, along with Bollywood actors Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Rohit Saraf.
