The IPL 2025 final is set for June 3rd (Tuesday), marking the grand clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST. RCB secured their spot in the final by defeating Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in Qualifier 1, while Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by 5 wickets in Qualifier 2 to reach the final.

This season, rain has already disrupted several matches, with three games being washed out. Qualifier 2 was also significantly delayed by rain in Ahmedabad. So, the pressing question is, how will a champion be decided if rain or any other interruption occurs during the IPL 2025 final? Let's dive into the details...

If rain or other disruptions prevent the game from reaching a minimum of five overs on June 3, the match will be moved to the reserve day (June 4). The BCCI has allocated an additional 120 minutes to try and conclude the match in one day. If no result is possible, the reserve day will be used, continuing from where the game left off. If rain interferes again and a minimum of five overs is not achievable, a Super Over could determine the IPL champion.

If a Super Over isn't possible, the team leading the points table will be declared the winner. This season, Punjab Kings topped the points table, while Royal Challengers Bangalore secured second place. Therefore, if the match is washed out, Punjab Kings will be crowned champions.

Playoff Regulations

According to IPL playing conditions, if the final, eliminator, Qualifier 1, or Qualifier 2 ends in a tie or no result, these rules apply:

16.11.1: The teams shall face each other in a Super Over. Additional Super Overs will be played if necessary to determine a winner.

16.11.2: If a Super Over is not possible, the winner will be decided as per Appendix F of the IPL playing conditions. The team higher in the league stage standings will be declared the winner.

Weather in Ahmedabad

The weather department predicts light to moderate rain in some parts of Ahmedabad on June 3. Arun Kumar Das, director of Ahmedabad weather department, stated, 'Our forecast indicates light to moderate rain, particularly in Ahmedabad and surrounding areas. The temperature is expected to be around 37 degrees with cloudy skies.'

In 2023, Ahmedabad also hosted the IPL final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT), which was rain-affected. On May 28, 2023, not a single ball was played, resulting in the match being moved to the reserve day. Even then, the second innings was reduced to 15 overs due to rain, with Chennai Super Kings clinching victory by 5 wickets.
