In Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, a man's life was tragically cut short due to a snake bite. He was showcasing stunts with a nearly six-foot-long cobra when it struck him three times in quick succession. The venom spread rapidly, and upon reaching the hospital, doctors declared him dead. This harrowing incident's video has gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred in the Pipalia Gopal village of Bilaspur tehsil, Rampur district, involving 50-year-old G. Raj Singh, who succumbed to the cobra bites. The tragic event took place on a village road as Raj Singh dangerously engaged with a venomous six-foot-long cobra. Despite villagers' warnings, he draped the snake around his neck, boasting of his bravery.
In the midst of his actions, the cobra bit him three times. G. Raj, reportedly suffering from mental instability, died on the spot. Subsequently, forest officials captured the snake, while the police sent the body for a postmortem examination.
G. Raj Singh, a resident of Pipalia Gopal village, was unmarried. After spotting the cobra on the street, he picked it up to play. Bystanders attempted to stop him, but in his quest to exhibit courage, he wrapped the snake around his neck. Witnesses stated that during this time, the snake attacked his hand, ear, and neck. Family members rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late.
DFO Pranav Jain from Rampur emphasized that tampering with an Indian Spectacled Cobra, one of India's most venomous snakes, without proper training can be lethal. He urged the public not to engage in self-rescue attempts upon spotting snakes but to immediately notify the forest department. The individual involved in this tragic incident was untrained, leading to this unfortunate mishap.
