Flood-like conditions in Kota, Bundi, and Tonk; Army and NDRF in action

Torrential rains have disrupted daily life in several districts of Rajasthan. Flood-like conditions have emerged in Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk. Two women have died in Bundi, and hundreds have been moved to safer locations. The army, NDRF, and SDRF are engaged in relief operations. Traffic is disrupted on several roads and rail routes, while water is being released by opening dam and barrage gates.

Continuous torrential rains in the eastern and southern parts of Rajasthan have created severe conditions. Flood-like situations have developed in the districts of Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk, leading to the evacuation of hundreds of people to safety. According to officials, in separate incidents in Bundi district, two women have lost their lives.

Rain Havoc in Eastern Rajasthan

A news agency report states that 502 mm of rain has been recorded in the Nainwa area of Bundi in the last 24 hours, which is the highest. A 50-year-old woman, Kailashbai, lost her life when she was swept away by the strong tide of the flood. Meanwhile, another 65-year-old woman, Manharbai, died due to the collapse of the wall of a tin shed in a field. The police handed over the bodies to the families after conducting postmortems.

Tragic Loss in Bundi

Considering the rain and flood scenario, the army and NDRF have been deployed for relief efforts. Approximately 500 people have been relocated to safer locations in the Nainwa and Keshoraipatan areas of Bundi district. On the other hand, SDRF and civil defense teams rescued over 100 people from Banasthali village in the Niwai area of Tonk.

Kota-Bundi MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited the affected areas to review relief efforts. State government ministers Kirori Meena and Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham also conducted aerial surveys and took stock of the affected areas, issuing orders to accelerate relief work.

Army-NDRF Rescue Operations

The rain has severely impacted rail and road traffic. In Bundi's Laban, the washout of soil beneath the Delhi-Mumbai rail track affected the movement of several trains. Traffic was also disrupted on the Jaipur-Kota Highway and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

In Dholpur, the Chambal River is flowing two meters above the danger mark. In Sujangarh, Churu, water has entered the shops. Authorities have opened six gates of the Bisalpur Dam and two gates of the Kota Barrage to release excess water.

The weather department predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue in southern and southeastern Rajasthan on Sunday, while rain is expected in southwestern districts on Monday and Tuesday as well.
