Rajasthan Government's Major Initiative to Reduce Road Accidents: Orders to Fill Potholes Swiftly

Rajasthan's Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, has launched a special campaign to address road safety by repairing potholes across the state. He emphasized the need to promptly identify and fix accident-prone areas on roads to prevent the loss of life and property due to vehicle accidents.

The Chief Minister has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to ensure quality during the campaign and complete the tasks within the stipulated time. He mentioned that road improvements valued at approximately 2350 crore are underway in the state to mitigate accidents.

Ongoing Repair Work on 40 Potholes

The Chief Minister has ordered strict action against those not adhering to the standards in road construction and maintenance. Notably, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 40 potholes being repaired at a cost of 812.64 crore, out of which work on 13 has been completed, and the others are underway.

Similarly, NHAI is set to commence repairs on 37 other identified potholes with a budget of 821.51 crore soon.

Safety-Oriented Road Improvements

It is noteworthy that the NHAI, in collaboration with the PWD, is working on improving 176 black spots at a cost of nearly 650 crore. Additionally, 117 black spots identified by the PWD will be fixed by March 31, 2025.

The Rajasthan State Highway Authority is also working on the improvement of 30 identified black spots, with work expected to be completed by January at a cost of 21.72 crore. Besides, improvements on four roads at a cost of 20.34 crore are underway, focusing on enhancing road safety.
