Indra Kumar Attacked on July 20, Initially Taken to Udaipur

The family says that Saraswati Vidya Mandir School operates in Surana village, where their child, Indra Kumar (9 years old), was a third grader. Uncle Kishore Kumar Meghwal lodged a complaint at Sayla police station stating Indra Kumar went to school on July 20; thirsty from the heat, he used a glass to drink water from a pot exclusively assigned for teacher Chail Singh, who forbade anyone else from using it.

Teacher Enraged After Learning About the Incident

Indra Kumar's family claims the boy unknowingly drank the water, enraging teacher Chail Singh, who called him out, insulted him with casteist remarks, and then started beating him. The assault was so severe that it injured the boy's right ear and eye, leading him to tell his father about the ordeal at home.

Initially Thought Minor Injuries...

The family initially assumed the injuries were minor, acquiring medicine from a nearby store in Churana. Increasing pain led them to Udaipur, and eventually Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital, but on the evening of August 13 (Saturday), Indra Kumar sadly passed away during treatment.

We Couldn't Save Our Son...

Devraj Meghwal, Indra's father, explained that his son attended Saraswati Vidya Mandir School, Surana. When he touched the water pot, teacher Chail Singh attacked him, bursting a nerve in his ear and wounding his face, leading to near-unconsciousness. The boy was initially taken to Jalore district hospital, referred to Udaipur, and finally Ahmedabad, but unfortunately couldn't be saved. Devraj's emotions welled up, unable to hold back tears as he recounted the events.

No Relief in Udaipur or Ahmedabad...

The father narrates his son's week-long hospital stay in Udaipur without visible improvement, prompting a move to Ahmedabad where recovery did not occur.

Police to Investigate Water Pot Touch Allegation

Meanwhile, the state education department commenced an inquiry. Rajasthan SC Commission chairman Khiladi Lal Bairwa took note, ordering the appointment of a case officer. Jalore SP Harshvardhan Agarwal stated the child was severely beaten; the family's reason cited was touching the drinking pot. Investigation is yet to be conducted.

Accused Arrested

Jalore SP informed that a case is filed against teacher Chail Singh under section 302 and the SC/ST Act, leading to his arrest. The education department directed an investigation by two officials to report to the block education officer.
