Why the Need for a By-Election?
By-elections in the state are necessary for seven seats, of which four belonged to Congress, and one each to BJP and BAP RLP. Two seats require by-elections due to the passing of current legislators—Congress's Zubair Khan (Ramgarh) and BJP's Amritlal Meena (Salumber).
Moreover, by-elections are required in five constituencies where legislators were elected as MPs in the Lok Sabha elections. Congress legislators Brijendra Ola (Jhunjhunu), Harish Chandra Meena (Deoli-Uniara), Murari Lal Meena (Dausa), Rashtriya Loktantrik Party legislator Hanuman Beniwal (Khinwsar), and Bharat Adivasi Party legislator Rajkumar Rot (Choraasi) were elected as MPs earlier this year. The current 200-seat state assembly comprises 114 BJP legislators, 65 from Congress, three from Bharat Adivasi Party, two from BSP, one from RLD, and eight independent legislators.
