Before the upcoming by-elections across seven assembly seats in Rajasthan, Congress has taken a significant step. Naresh Meena, who decided to contest independently from the Deoli-Uniara seat, has been promptly expelled from the party.

Despite warnings from the party, Naresh Meena filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the by-election in Deoli-Uniara and has been ousted following his refusal to withdraw.

This isn't Naresh Meena's first rebellion against Congress. Earlier, he contested the 2023 assembly elections from the Chhabra seat as a dissenter and faced a six-year expulsion from Rajasthan Congress by Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa. Although he returned during the Lok Sabha elections contemplating an independent bid, party leaders persuaded him back then.

Congress has officially nominated KC Meena for the Deoli-Uniara seat, where Naresh Meena was also vying for a ticket. Naresh Meena's expulsion could alienate a significant vote bank from Congress, potentially causing setbacks. Notably, National Democratic Party (RLP) chief Hanuman Beniwal has lent his backing to Naresh Meena.
