In the chilling murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the accused wife Sonam Raghuvanshi has surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. The plot involved three contract killers, namely Akash, Vishal, and Anand, who have all been apprehended. During police questioning, intriguing revelations emerged. Sources indicate that Sonam, along with her lover Raj Kushwaha, orchestrated the murder plot, having been in a relationship prior to the incident.
Interrogations uncovered that Raj never ventured to Shillong to execute the plot himself. Instead, he orchestrated the entire scheme via phone, continuously instructing Sonam and the hired assassins. Following his guidance, Sonam met with the contract killers, already stationed in Shillong. The group then proceeded to Cherrapunji, where Sonam lured Raja to a deserted road, culminating in his assassination by the three awaiting killers.
Following their horrendous deed, Sonam, Akash, Vishal, and Anand returned to Shillong before heading directly to Guwahati. They stayed there overnight before parting ways in different directions. However, Sonam was already under the Meghalaya police's radar. Early investigation left police suspicious of Sonam's role in this case, suspecting she was alive and intricately involved in the murder.
Technical surveillance and examination of Sonam's call records showed consistent communication with Raj Kushwaha. Confirmation of their prior relationship shifted the case’s trajectory rapidly. Police teams from various states embarked on a search operation. Initially, a team reached Lalitpur, capturing Akash Rajput.
Meghalaya Police to Bring Accused on Transit Remand
Subsequently, authorities arrested Raj Kushwaha and Vishal in Indore. Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur late on a Sunday night while the fifth suspect, Anand, was apprehended in Sagar. After completing necessary judicial and formal procedures alongside local law enforcement, all suspects will be brought to Shillong for further investigation and interrogation, where the police aim to secure their remand through court proceedings.
Sonam's Feigned Abduction Tale in Ghazipur
At 1:42 AM on June 9, a tip-off from Kashi Dhaba in Nandganj Police Station, Ghazipur led to the discovery of a petrified woman by the road. PRV 6451 responded, finding the woman identifying herself as Sonam. She claimed that while on a trip to Meghalaya with her husband, unknown assailants had murdered him and abducted her.

Currently, Shillong police have captured five people linked to the murder; the case’s intricacies are expected to unravel during interrogation.
Local Tourist Guide Albert PD Speaks Out
Tourist guide Albert PD shared insights about Raja and Sonam, claiming to have seen them trekking on May 23 with three others. Though Hindi conversation occurred, Albert, understanding only Khasi and English, couldn't decipher their discussion.
Albert also claimed that on May 22, Sonam and Raja declined his trekking service offer, already having hired someone else. Investigations pointed to them hiring a guide named ‘Bha Wansai’ and staying at ‘Shipara Homestay’. On the morning of May 23, the couple trekked without a guide, according to Albert.
