Discussions are heating up in Maharashtra about a possible reunion between Uddhav Thackeray and his brother Raj Thackeray. After two decades of political rivalry, the Thackeray brothers appear to be reconciling. Together, they oppose the grand alliance government’s policy to make Hindi the third mandatory language in the state. Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP and leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, clarified that the talks are about emotional connection rather than a formal alliance.
What Did Sanjay Raut Say at the Press Conference?
Sanjay Raut mentioned that Raj Thackeray tabled an issue, which was Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray immediately expressed his response for Maharashtra's welfare without setting any conditions. Had there been conditions, both major leaders wouldn’t have come together. These two leaders - Thackeray and Uddhav - have agreed to unite for Maharashtra’s benefit.
Questioning Maharashtra's Welfare Is Unwise
He added, is it appropriate to stir conflict or controversy in the meantime? Isn’t this the formula for Maharashtra's well-being? The Bharatiya Janata Party does not seem to favor this formula for Maharashtra's benefit. Why is the BJP sending people to jail today? It doesn’t imply a personal issue; it’s a public sentiment. A political study is essential to understand more.

A Unified Ideology and Reaching the Last Person
Sanjay Raut stated that on one hand, it was the mission of Sharad Pawar and Balasaheb Thackeray to establish an ideology for Maharashtra’s honor among Marathi people. This message must reach the last person in the village - that’s our role. The prime focus is to prioritize Maharashtra's welfare above all. Anyone against this cannot last in our home or be welcomed in our ranks.
The True Enemies of Maharashtra
He noted that the true adversaries of Maharashtra are those who attempted to dismantle Balasaheb Thackeray's army for Maharashtra's pride, observed from a social standpoint. They disrupted the Shiv Sena and empowered Maharashtra's enemies. And now, if anyone speaks of Maharashtra's welfare, they should not be viewed with suspicion - it’s a clear, unambiguous stance.
Shiv Sena's Role and BJP's Certification
Sanjay Raut insisted that Uddhav Thackeray and his colleagues clearly stated that our message is reaching every village and every Marathi household in Maharashtra. Now, if someone claims who is truly pro-Hindutva, only BJP can confer such certification - and it is not the case. Then who is really against Maharashtra?
Raj Thackeray's Expertise
He mentioned that Raj Thackeray has attended many training schools. Raj listens to everyone - but today, who opposes Maharashtra? Only he could answer that. Some criticize who fail to recognize Maharashtra's economic prowess and strength. We never set conditions before Uddhav Thackeray - Maharashtra’s welfare comes first. Nothing contrary will move forward.
Recognizing Power and the Impact of Lies
Sanjay Raut emphasized the need for solid study - to properly recognize power and debate over it. When lies are spread, Home Ministers, the Prime Minister, Defense Ministers come - all as part of governmental duty. Mukta (an organization) gathered everyone, but now it’s even suspended.

Justice Chandrachud and Mosque Controversy
Sanjay Raut noted, did Justice Chandrachud ever order the excavation of a mosque? Can you dig anywhere now at a mosque or dargah? That’s why riots broke out in Sambhal. Do Nishikant Dubey and others want to talk about that judgment now? Could they dig at any mosque to see if there’s a temple or anything else beneath? I believe they’re targeting Justice Chandrachud. They don’t recognize the Supreme Court, any court, nor Parliament. Will Nishikant Dubey speak above the Supreme Court? Tell me if such a person should not be ousted from his party?
Questioning the Constitution and Judiciary
If you are the protectors of the Constitution, you should act against them. When Justice Chandrachud ordered the mosque’s excavation, didn’t it seem that it could stir conflicts? Seven people died in Sambhal, and lives were lost elsewhere too. Didn’t it seem then that the Supreme Court was overstepping its bounds? When Maharashtra’s unlawful government was recognized, Article 10 was seen as violated. Didn’t that seem wrong then?
Relations Between Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray
Sanjay Raut remarked, the ‘terms and conditions’ of MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) are that Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray are brothers. We have worked together for years. Even today, our relationship stands - intact with fraternity and friendship. It never broke. If another person says something - they should ask if what we are saying is correct or not from their party. Both brothers will decide - and we’ve accepted Uddhav’s stance that if it means coming together for Maharashtra’s interest, we will forget all differences.

Who Are Maharashtra’s Adversaries and Alliance Path?
He asserted, some political parties claim to be Maharashtra's benefactor but are actual enemies of Maharashtra. They aim to erase Marathi pride. They dismantled Balasaheb Thackeray's Shiv Sena to undermine Maharashtra's self-respect. We should have no relation with any such party - only then can we be called true Maharashtra devotees. And that’s not a condition - it’s a sentiment of the state’s people.
