Once again, rain has wreaked havoc in Delhi. Starting from Wednesday evening, the rain continued through the night, turning several areas like Sarita Vihar, Daryaganj, Pragati Maidan, and ITO into ponds. The impact was evident on Thursday morning with numerous roads still submerged.
From Thursday morning, traffic was crawling on the roads due to waterlogging. The dire situation led to the announcement of a holiday for all schools in Delhi today, with some colleges also remaining closed during this period.
The heavy rain late at night resulted in the death of two individuals. According to police, 22-year-old Tanuja and her three-year-old son Priyansh had gone to the weekly market near Khoda Colony in the Ghazipur area. During this time, they slipped and fell into a drain. Authorities mentioned that both were rescued with the help of divers and a crane and were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Injury Due to House Collapse
In the Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi, a man was injured after a house collapsed. According to a Delhi Fire Services officer, a house near the Gancho Ka Qila, close to Robin Cinema in the Sabzi Mandi area, collapsed. Five fire brigades were sent to the spot, and one man was rescued from the debris. He was taken to the hospital in a serious condition, while a woman was injured due to the collapse of a wall in the Vasant Kunj area of South West Delhi.

All Schools in Delhi Closed Today
Following the torrential rain that led to waterlogging in various parts of the capital Delhi, the government decided to close all schools today, Thursday. Additionally, a red alert for heavy rain has been issued in Delhi, and the Delhi Traffic Police has also released a traffic advisory.
10 Flights Diverted
Due to poor weather conditions at Delhi Airport, the routes of 10 flights were changed. An official stated that due to bad weather conditions, after 7:30 PM on Wednesday, at least 10 flights had their routes altered. Of these, eight were redirected to Jaipur and two to Lucknow.
